Stroke Program
Every 45 seconds, someone in America has a stroke. In fact, 700,000 Americans experience stroke symptoms every year, making it the third leading killer and the number one cause of adult disability in the United States. NNI stroke specialists are working to change those statistics with help from the American Heart/Stroke Association and other health care organizations.
The NNI Stroke Program offers diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, education and outreach. A trained Stroke Team of doctors and nurses works to identify stroke symptoms as quickly as possible, beginning with emergency medical service workers in the field. By the time a patient arrives at the hospital, the Stroke Team is ready.
The program also increases education and awareness of stroke symptoms to both healthcare professionals and the community. Inpatient and outpatient neuro-rehabilitation programs help patients adapt to their new lifestyles as smoothly as possible.
The road to stroke recovery continues with inpatient and outpatient neuro rehabilitation programs, which are designed to help patients regain physical and speech function, and adapt to their new lifestyles with optimum capabilities.

Neurology
The Division of Neurology offers diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and education for patients with diseases and injuries of the nervous system. Both adults and children can receive inpatient and outpatient care from leading specialists with services in
- Neuro-Oncology - malignant disorders of the nervous system with a primary focus on brain tumors - Stroke and other neurovascular problems - Brain tumors - Balance Disorders - Neuromuscular Disorders - Neurological Rehabilitation

Gamma Knife Center
Imagine having brain surgery on Monday and going back to work on Wednesday, with no pain, no incisions and no scaring. NNI is the only facility in Nevada offering Gamma Knife radiosurgery, a quick, non-invasive alternative to traditional neurosurgery. This 20-ton machine sends radiation beams to destroy abnormal tissues. Controlled by a team of experts, Gamma Knife has been used to treat malignant and benign brain tumors, acoustic neuromas, trigeminal neuralgia, certain vascular malformations, epilepsy and Parkinson's disease.
More than 120,000 patients around the world have had great success with Gamma Knife radiosurgery. The success rate for metastatic tumors, meningiomas and other treatments exceeds 90 percent. Tumor growth usually reduces or stops over time, while most blood vessel abnormalities close and dissolve within several months.

Neurosurgery
The neurosurgeons at NNI perform advanced brain and spine surgeries, working with experts to ensure the best results possible. NNI neurosurgeons specialize in:
- Cerebrovascular Neurosurgery This surgery treats disorders of the blood vessels in the head and neck, including aneurysms, vascular tumors, malformations, occlusions and ischemia.
- Spinal Disorders NNI's team of spine surgeons provides treatments for spinal disorders, degenerative diseases, tumors and infections.
- Endovascular Neurosurgery - Interventional Neuroradiology this microsurgery inside blood vessels and spinal vertebrae is used for stroke, aneurysms, tumors and arteriovenous malformations and fistulas that are not treatable by regular surgery.
- Brain Tumors NNI surgeons use the latest techniques to treat tumors and other lesions in the skull base that used to be thought inoperable.
- Stereotactic Neurosurgery This type of microsurgery is minimally invasive, using CT scans or magnetic resonance imaging.
- Craniofacial Surgery This surgery is used to treat birth defects, trauma and tumors that cause distortion of the face and head.
- Stereotactic Radiosurgery This type of surgery uses targeted radiation to shrink or eliminate tumors, aneurysms and arteriovenous malformations.
